"Let them give thanks to the Lord for His lovingkindness, and for His
wonders to the sons of men! For He has satisfied the thirsty
soul, and the hungry soul He has filled with
what is good" (Psalm 107:8-9).
Heavenly Father, when I inventory my life, I find much that I'm thankful for. I'm alive. I love my family. My job provides me with income. Yet, in the deepest part of me, I feel like something is missing. It's as though I'm longing for something that eludes me. Even more, I can't put what I feel like I'm missing in to words. I only know that the loss causes me much anxiety and dissatisfaction. To make matters worse, this empty feeling is consuming my thought life and stealing time that I should be spending in prayer, Bible study, worship, and other spiritual matters. Lord, I read in scripture that you are the One who satisfies and fills the thirsty and hungry soul. I confess to you my sin of allowing my own feelings to pull me away from you. I'm sorry. Come, Lord Jesus, forgive me and restore to me the joy of my salvation. Fill my empty soul with your love, blessing, and goodness. Provide for my spiritual need as well as physical need. Revive me with an overwhelming hunger for prayer and scripture. Guide me and teach me to love your word, seek your will, and obey your promptings in my life. Satisfy me with the riches of your presence and comfort. I am yours. In Jesus' name, Amen.
