We Know Not What We Do

by Jack Manor

Thought: What shame we heap upon ourselves and others, when we think cheaply and degradingly about other human beings. Misfits, deplorables, lower class, and throw-aways are what many people label fellow human beings who are made in the image of God and will live eternally in either the happiness of Heaven or the horror of Hell. We've heard it said, "Little people belittle people," and deep down we know it's true. The fact is that we are all, every day, helping each other to one or the other of these eternities. Would that we all start today seeing people as God's image bearers, grant them the honor and respect that love for God demands, and help them to enter the narrow gate and walk the narrow road that leads to eternal life with Jesus Christ in Heaven.

Verse: “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.’ … Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels’ … These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life” (Matthew 25:31-34, 41, 46).

Quote: “The dullest most uninteresting person you can talk to may one day be a creature which, if you saw it now, you would be strongly tempted to worship, or else a horror and a corruption such as you now meet, if at all, only in a nightmare. … There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations—these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit—immortal horrors or everlasting splendors.” – C. S. Lewis
