Thought: The streets of our America are polluted with vulgar, degrading, and disgusting cursing and swearing. If it's happening on the streets, imagine how it's filling our homes. Profanity is never necessary. The ability to use good words wisely increases the value of life and carries us farther in life. Let Jesus be the Lord of your tongue and profanity won't lower your life to gutter-level and limit your success.
Verse: "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. . . . Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen" (James 3:9-10; Ephesians 4:29).
Quote: "To me, a foul mouth is a demonstration of a lack of intelligence. When I hear people sprinkle their speech with profanity, I just assume they have a very limited vocabulary. Otherwise it wouldn't be necessary to resort to profanity." -- Pat Williams
